Research Chemist / Research Scientist

Work with us on an exciting opportunity within Research & Development in the Life Sciences industry, based in Stein, Switzerland.

We are looking for a Research Chemist / Research Scientist with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry to support research activities from discovery through to development.

• Location: Stein, Aargau
• Start: Ideally November 2026
• Duration: Until October 2027
• Workload: 100%, 42 hours per week 

• Independently execute synthetic organic chemistry routes in a safe, effective and sustainable manner.
• Design efficient synthetic routes to target molecules using scientific expertise and available digital tools.
• Collaborate with supporting platforms including automation, analytical and purification teams.
• Perform detailed risk assessments of experimental procedures and raw materials in line with HSE requirements.
• Troubleshoot synthetic chemistry challenges and contribute to scientific problem solving.
• Accurately document experimental procedures and data to ensure reproducibility, traceability and secure intellectual property.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory processes, safety and productivity. 

• Master's degree in Organic Chemistry / Synthetic Chemistry preferred.
• Ideally at least 2 years of professional experience as a Research Scientist in synthetic organic chemistry. Junior profiles with a relevant Master's degree can also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry, including reaction design, retrosynthesis, troubleshooting, purification and structural elucidation.
• Comfortable using software and digital tools for synthesis design and data analysis.
• Independent, self-motivated and comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong focus on laboratory safety and high-quality scientific documentation.
• Fluent English is mandatory; additional languages are an advantage.
