As a Biospecimen Specialist, you will be responsible for the management of biospecimens and all associated sample and test data in compliance with local regulatory requirements, quality standards, business requirements and industry best practices.
This role is specifically dedicated to managing and running the BAM team's Employee Specimen Donation Program (ESDP).
You will join the Biospecimen Acquisition and Management (BAM) team in Rotkreuz, a service organization with four teams across Europe and North America. BAM uses global capabilities together with local support structures to provide integrated biological specimen solutions supporting the Diagnostics' strategy.

- Autonomously lead and execute the Employee Specimen Donation Program to ensure reliable and compliant sample sourcing
- Design and provide a strong advertising campaign to effectively promote the donation program to internal employees
- Manage and perform biological material processing, registration, shipment, returns, verification activities, retrievals and inventory searches in a validated environment
- Create sample collection kits
- Take accountability for end-to-end project management and biorepository management activities to fulfil customer specimen requests
- Collaborate with relevant permitting agencies, import/export compliance teams, and local Safety and Biorepository Teams to comply with permit requirements
- Conduct data management activities, including data review, import, quality and consistency checks, data searches, discrepancy resolution and data export within a validated LIMS
- Take accountability for data entry into validated databases, ensuring information is entered accurately, consistently and according to established formats
- Maintain sample collection and/or study information according to applicable processes and procedures
- Interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders to establish timelines and meet defined project goals
- Ensure continuous process compliance, including the accurate collection and maintenance of all required legal, regulatory and ethics documentation according to established BAM procedures
Interview Process
The interview process consists of two rounds: a virtual case study followed by an in-person interview in Rotkreuz.
Please note: Only candidates with completed education can be considered. Degree certificates and the latest reference letter will be required, and CVs must be provided in English.
- Life Sciences Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with 1–3 years of relevant experience in sample acquisition, data management or biobankingORLife Sciences Master's degree or equivalent, with some experience in sample management, biobanking or a related area
- Experience handling biological specimens and willingness to work with potentially infectious biological material
- Knowledge of Ethics and Compliance, including an understanding of informed consent, IRB (Institutional Review Board) protocols and data privacy regulations such as HRA and GDPR relating to human specimens
- Experience with LIMS or other validated systems
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite
- English minimum B2
- Hepatitis vaccination available
- Ability to lift 10–15 kg
- Ability to follow detailed standard procedures and a strong understanding of biospecimen traceability
- Excellent data-handling capabilities
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to ensuring the highest quality, accuracy and timeliness of biospecimen deliverables
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven ability to effectively manage diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated, organized and accountable, with the ability to work autonomously and successfully lead internal collections
Nice to have:
- Experience within research, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, CRO or medical device industries
- German language skills
